Summary:"Sometimes all it takes to reach the Grail is an intuition. This is how Nouvelle Vague's Marc Collin describes the guiding force behind his band's voyage into new musical territories in this sympathetic documentary. 'The Grail' is the story of Nouvelle Vague's journey around the world and production of several acclaimed albums. For this versatile group, which has hosted a roster of singers as wild and extravagant as Camille, Phoebe Killdeer, Elodie Frégé and Nadeah, it all began in 2004 when they came up with their name in homage to both the cinematic movement of Godard and Truffaut, and the Brazilian musical style of Bossa Nova, which literally translated means ""new wave"". This ""intuition"" was manifested into a simple concept: the 'cover band'; drawing on the repertoire of New Wave and Post-Punk, and fearlessly reworking the songs into new forms, instilling them with the band's distinctive dose of glamour and serenity. With their breakthrough first production, a Bossa Nova adaption of Joy Division's ""Love Will Tear Us Apart"", and covers of ""Guns of Brixton"" by The Clash, and ""Too Drunk To Fuck"" by the Dead Kennedys, distinguished by Camille's dusky vocals, to collaborating with Echo and the Bunneymen's Ian McCullough on ""All My Colours"", Nouvelle Vague forged a unique style and sound befitting of their moniker. Having made three albums of anglophone repertoire, the producers turned their gaze to Paris, to draw attention to its own Punk and New Wave movements. Calling upon a new generation of artists such as Emily Loizeau and Julien Doré. **Philippe Lesage**"
