Description
Summary:This text provides students and practitioners with an understanding of the changing public sector, the relationship between these changes and the wider conduct of politics
This volume identifies the main changes in the British State Since 1945 and evaluates their consequences for political strategies pursued during this time. It provides an understanding of the changing organization and structure of the public sector. It also establishes the relationship between these changes and wider patterns of political representation and intervention
Recent academic and political responses to the British state have been influenced by an atmosphere which is increasingly suspicious of hierarchies, bureaucracies and, indeed, the state itself. Tom Ling locates this current trend in its wider context, and concludes by examining the more important recent approaches reflecting this atmosphere and evaluate their contribution
