Summary: | This subtle fictional narrative by Jose Castello invites the reader to engage in the surprising universe created by Arthur Bispo do Rosário, a personage who escapes our definition attempts: was he crazy delusional? Or was he a visionary artist? Journalist and author Jose Castello interviewed Bispo de Rosario in 1985, at the mental hospital Juliano Moreira, accompanied by renowned photographer Walter Firmo. It seems that the meeting left him disturbed, such confusion reigned. The essay was originally published in "Inventário das sombras" (Record, 1999). The photographs are of Andres Otero (2016). All works reproduced in the book belong to the collection of the Museu Do Rosário Arte Contemporânea, Prefeitura do Rio de Janeiro. The volume also includes a biographical essay on Bishop of Rosario |
